Reinterpretation 4

I have been always been working with reinterpretation of art and historic photographs in my art. During the horrible Covid 19 pandemic, I found it very interesting to see how the safe everydays that we all have lulled us self into was taken away in an instant, like a soft carpet snapped away from under our feet. Insecurity, instability, the fear of sickness and death, – all taboos in our former safe society – suddenly became focus of our days. Taboos are always interesting, I find – as they often reflect thoughts and feelings that we all have, but daren’t, cannot, will not, talk about. The sickness was terrible, but the shift in thoughts that came with it was perhaps healthy in some ways?

The work is “The Beloved”, from “The Winter of Face Masks”, 2020.
